How to Jump on Serve? | Talk Tennis
One minor note on the jump serve. If you're older, then you may consider the additional stress it puts on the joints in your leg and foot and the greater potential for rolling an ankle when you land. Don't do the jump serve absent-mindedly. I did roll an ankle once when I wasn't careful about the landing.

Serve - Jump / No Jump - Talk Tennis
Gotta jump if you're going for fast serves, for the net clearance and bigger court. If you're just spinning your serves in, you're more accurate with barely leaving the ground, or staying attached. However, you don't CHOOSE to jump or not. Your serve motion dictates what to do. Driving the legs and body forwards uses up the "10-15" percent power.

Let’s talk seriously about the Alcaraz jump serve | Talk Tennis
Alcaraz generates a significant fraction of his serve pop, from jumping forward into the court, and relies on extra height from the jump to increase his serve angle window into the box. He relies on elevated jump more than any other top player in history. This is a concern for anyone...

Tennis Serve Footwork & Jump
The footwork on the tennis serve and the jump is not an easy subject to understand. Sometimes one foot does not seem to push on the ground, ??. The serving technique of Pete Sampras is one successful footwork and jump technique that is particularly clear to observe. What does Sampras's back...

How high do you jump on a serve? - Talk Tennis
The jump plays only a small role in the serve, as there are people who can serve at 100mph without having their feet leave the ground. So, I understand why to tell players not to focus on their jump, I just disagree that we should kid ourselves that momentum from the swing will lift you into the air.

Jumping on serve [pro/cons] - Talk Tennis
There's a difference between a JUMP serve, and a serve with leg action/drive. A jump serve has an intentional jump, and will likely have a massive leap as the server hangs in the air for a bit and will look more like a dunk overhead. While it looks well timed, it's a two piece motion instead of a singular, smooth motion that just flows into the ...

How important is the jump on the serve? - Talk Tennis
With the change of the rule that you could be virtually in the air at contact, players started to develop this dual leg drive which results into this socalled jump but actually it's the natural propelling action of the serve: if you push against the ground the ground pushes back.

Jumping for higher contact point on serve. Opinions?
The serve motion needs to be properly timed with the jump in order to maximize serve efficiency. I tend to believe that the most important part of the serve involves the torso/shoulder and arm. If the basic serving motion is sound, then it is fine to experiment with getting more height.

running jump serve - Talk Tennis
USTA Comment: The key to understanding this rule is to realize that the Server's feet must be at rest immediately before beginning to serve. Immediately thereafter, the delivery of the service begins with any arm or racket motion, and ends when the racket contacts the ball (or misses the ball in attempt to strike it).
